FAQ

How does a Mind Map competition work?

There are four competitions held annually, one each quarter.

Each competition consists of two main events:

  • Morning Session: Mind Mapping Competition
Participants are connected to the same videoconferencing room and have a maximum of two hours to create the best mind map on a given topic. The subject, typically a single word (e.g., « peace »), is revealed at the start of the competition and kept confidential until then.
  • Afternoon Session: Speed Reading Competition
In the afternoon, participants engage in a two-hour speed reading competition, also held online. They are again connected to the same videoconferencing room and are provided access to the same fiction book, which has been translated into multiple languages but never published before. Competitors read the book on the platform, and upon finishing, they have 30 minutes to answer 20 questions related to the content. However, once they begin the quiz, they can no longer access the book. Rankings are determined by a combination of reading speed (words per minute) and the accuracy of their answers (percentage of correct responses).

How does a Speed Reading competition work?

For the Speed Reading competition, the participants will have a maximum of 2 hours to read a fiction book that has never been published before. Every competitor reads the same book, in the language of their choice. When they finish reading the text, they have 30 minutes to answer 20 open-ended questions to test their comprehension. The competitors won’t have access to the book at that stage and will have to rely on their memory.

The ranking will be based on the formula:

reading speed (in words per minute) x comprehension rate (in %) = points

When and where are the competitions?

Both the Speed Reading and Mind Mapping competitions happen every quarter, on a Saturday (Mind Mapping in the morning and Speed Reading in the afternoon). The competition is fully remote, allowing people to participate online from anywhere in the world.

Is it for children or adults too?

The competition is open to everyone, without an age limit.

We have 3 different categories:

  • junior (from 6 to 13 years old)
  • teen (from 14 to 18 years old)
  • adult (19 years old and above)

Each category has its own ranking.

What languages are available?

The competition is available in the following languages:

  • English
  • French
  • Polish
  • Turkish
  • Arabic
  • Spanish
  • Vietnamese
  • Portuguese

More languages will be added overtime.
